GET IT NOWI Always Keep This Healthy Sugar Free Italian Dressing In My Fridge

Once I started making this sugar free healthy Italian dressing recipe at home, I stopped buying the bottled kind completely. It only takes a few minutes to mix up, and I usually have all the ingredients on hand already. I use it for everything from salads and marinades to dips—you name it. Here’s why this one’s a staple in my kitchen:
- Tastes like the real thing – This dressing all the zesty, herby, garlicky flavors you’d expect from a classic Italian dressing. It’s just like the kind I used to buy, only fresher and made without any sugar or strange ingredients.
- Just 6 simple ingredients – Just like my other dressings, this one skips the fillers and weird stuff. You probably have everything in your pantry already, which makes it an easy go-to when you need something quick.
- Better than store-bought dressings – Most Italian dressings at the store are either loaded with sugar or taste kind of flat. This one’s fresh, flavorful, and I like knowing exactly what’s in it.
Once you try it, you won’t want to go back. Make it with me!

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here I explain the best ingredients for my healthy Italian dressing recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For measurements, see the recipe card.
- Olive Oil – I recommend extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor, but regular olive oil or avocado oil will work too if that’s what you have.
- White Wine Vinegar – This gives Italian salad dressings that signature tang. Red wine vinegar works too, just with a slightly bolder flavor.
- Besti Powdered Monk Fruit Allulose Blend – This is my go-to for making Italian dressing sugar-free, but still with that little hint of sweetness. If you use another sweetener, make sure it’s powdered or you’ll end up with gritty dressing. I don’t recommend erythritol-based ones because they can crystallize in the fridge. You can skip the sweetener if you want, but I think a tiny bit really balances the flavors. If you’re using a different one, check my sweetener conversion chart and adjust to taste.
- Italian Seasoning – I make my own blend with dried oregano, marjoram, basil, thyme, rosemary, and sage, but store-bought works just fine.
- Spices – I kept it classic with garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Want to make a spicy healthy Italian dressing? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a little extra black pepper for a kick.

Healthy Italian Dressing

Serving Ideas
If you’re wondering how to use this dressing beyond just salads, I’ve got a few easy and delicious ideas for you:
- As a marinade – I love using this on baked chicken breast, but it also works great for grilled chicken thighs or even sheet pan chicken and veggies.
- As a dip – Healthy Italian dressing is perfect with fresh-cut cucumbers, bell peppers, or cherry tomatoes. I’ve also dipped zucchini chips or kale chips in it when I want something crunchy.
- For salad – I toss it in everything from simple greens and pasta salads to a loaded antipasto salad or artichoke salad with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. You can find more healthy salad recipes here!
- On roasted vegetables – Try tossing it with roasted brussels sprouts, zucchini, or cauliflower right before serving. I like to roast a big pan and drizzle creamy Italian dressing over while it’s still warm.

0I used the oil and vinegar measurements I’ve used for years when making up Good Seasons Italian salad dressing packets, 1/2 cup quality olive oil, 1/4 cup red wine vinegar, with no other adjustments to this recipe. My family could not tell I’m no longer using the packets, and they asked what I’ve done to make my salad even better. I’m so pleased to have found this recipe. I’ve tried others that did not give me the result I was looking for. Thank you!

0This is so easy, and tasty. I make a double batch is a emptied BBQ sauce bottle, and it fits perfectly.
I do use a combination of oils, mainly olive, Macadamia oils and some of temp and MCT oils.
Thank you for this recipe ?

0oh. my. god. so I found this recipe last night (6/13/23) while approaching the end of my 72 hour fast. Let me just say that I just broke my fast (with a super clean salad) and a teeny bit of this on the side to try it .. and MY GOD THIS IS SO AMAZING. I wasn’t sure how it’d taste because every time I make a dressing or marinade recipe, I hate it. BUT this was so easy and I already had everything in my fridge but blue cheese (which i bought today) so I figured I’d try it. when I was making it I couldn’t taste test it (I was still fasting) but now that I’ve tried it…..OMFGGGGGGGGGGGG I WILL NEVER BUY FROM A STORE AGAIN. I WILL NEVER ASK FOR A “blue cheese dipping cup” on the side EVER AGAIN IN MY LIFE. i will forever make this i cannot believe how amazing it is. AND BEST PART IS THAT I KNOW THE INGREDIENTS BECAUSE I MADE IT!!! NONE OF THAT TRASH FROM THE STORE WITH 100 UNNECESSARY INGREDIENTS. THANK YOUUU. Also tried your Italian dressing recipe and *chefs kiss* (it’s what I have in my salad right now) literally phenomenal. Btw I used oat milk in mine 🙂 so good.

Heidi
0This was perfect Italian dressing and so easy to make.
Rita
0When I refrigerated leftover it got solid. Is that supposed to happen?
Wholesome Yum M
0Hi Rita, Yes, some oils will get thick when refrigerated. Let it sit out for 10 to 15 minutes and then give it a good stir before serving.
Amy D
0I love this recipe so much! I am going to add some fresh garlic cloves to mine. I bet it will be great on my fresh cucumbers.
Dennis Demaree
0Do you have to refrigerate the dressing or can you just leave it out at room temperature?
Wholesome Yum D
0Hi Dennis, Store in the refrigerator for 2-4 weeks.
Jen
0Such a wholesum recipe for sure – I love the idea of a fresh salad dressing. Pinned for later.

0I love making my own homemade dressings. This Italian dressing looks great!
Laura
0That is a dressing we Italian use often and you are right, we don’t add sugar. While many like to add some sweetness your choice of sugar substitute is perfect.
